1. How to load several soundbanks with no pain (self-made presets of banks) ?
The following tricks were tested with SoundBank Manager 2.02 for Home Studio PRO 64 for NT, running on 9x with trick Number 4 :). However, this should work with the ISIS and the IM 4.0 software package too (see the links at the end of this page).
If you don’t want to read all the detailled explanations and know how it works, go at the download section. With the 2 links HSPRO.zip and ISIS.zip, you can download an archive with ready-to-use registry & info summary files.

The Soundbank Manager family stores some useful informations into the registry. If you look with regedit (Start->Execute->Regedit) into the
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Guillemot\Maxi Studio ISIS\Memory Manager\Startup Banks, you can see something like this (it can differ a little on your computer) :Note : the name of the key is different for the ISIS and IM 4.0 :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Guillemot Corporation\Maxi Studio ISIS\Memory Manager\Startup Banks
Ok, what’s up with that ? You can see that you can specify up to 8 bank names and priority. (look at my example with the Drsax1.94b bank). The first bank is " reserved " for the system default soundbank (bank4m.94b). You can moreover say that you want to close SBM when the banks are loaded ( see the
Close Once Banks Loaded value).- Now, so far so good , but how do I load the specified banks ?
- It’s very simple. SBM has some hidden command line parameters that will help us a lot :). Make a copy of the shortcut to Sounbank Manager wich is on your desktop (perhaps it is called " Memory Manager " or " MemManager "). Right-click on the shortcut to edit the properties.
If you don’t have the shorcut on your desktop , look into the directory where you installed Soundbank Manager and make a shortcut to it.
Add the /BOOTUP parameter to the command line. Now if you did modify the banks registry entries, SBM will load them if you double-click on the link. Is that easy :) You can rename the shortcut to something like " load preset " to distinguish it from the standard Soundbank Manager shortcut.
2. How to load this self-made presets at Windows startup ?
Well, I think you can find it by yourself… ;) Simply copy the previous shorcut to
the \Windows\Start Menu\Startup\ folder (or something like this in your langage).
3. How to unload all the bank without to have to launch Soundbank Manager ?
Sometimes it’s a little annoying to launch an utility just to click on a button… If you want to unload all the banks, create a another shortcut like for the /BOOTUP keyword, but change it to /EMPTYMEM :
