I am currently in thesis on the subject: "Tracking of sparse elements in image streams for an interactive robust calibration, with application to post-production". This research is part of an European research project, Nemesis, leaded by Thomson-TCO. In association with Mikros Images, we create a plug-in for the After-Effect software, to feed post-production tools with recent and evolving research results in Computer Vision.
I worked on the design of an algorithm for tracking sparse geometric features like segments, rectangles or corners in video sequences.
A 3D shape and motion recovery algorithm uses these tracks along with geometric relationships to create a reduced parametric model of the scene.
Then, tracking results and the parametric model are given to an optimisation algorithm that allow to recover both 3D elements and the camera motion.
In the next sections, you can see some results from these algorithm, along with some discussions on various technical or mathematical points.
