In the last two decades of my life, I have seen the Political platform turn from world Peace to a significant war on crime platform and in seeing this many, many politicians do not openly admit to the public and their voters that statistics clearly show that crime is on the decline and has been for several years.
Being that a majority of the time crime is depicted on television, it will consist of violent crimes the Public's fear is enhanced and this is a very crucial instrument to the aspiring Politician, because the Politician is aware of what the current Political platform consists of and that is very simple "Crime and Punishment".

In the last two decades we have seen many innocently convicted men released from our nations prisons where they have been deprived of endless years of freedom at the hands of a over zealous Prosecutor or Police Officer looking to make a name for himself and in doing so he is focusing on high profile cases, such as "Violent Crimes" when this is done, the Prosecutors and Police focus on three key things one is a suspect who will fit their agenda, two is evidence to help get the conviction at all costs and three is support from the Public and most of all the Victims family.
When we look at the three we can place the first in a specific social class or even educational Category and that is the poor and under-privileged minority, the Under-educated or the Mentally ill or just the simple past convicted Felon that is most available.
And then there is evidence, in many of the cases against the innocents who are convicted evidence is fabricated, planted or deals are made to obtain false testimony favorable to the Prosecutions case and last but not to be forgotten are the Victims and the victims loved ones and families.

What most of the Public never pays attention to is the process that is taken to convict the innocent. First we have the crime, although unnecessary it occurs and often when it is a violent crime the most High Profile case known to man is that of Murder. When there is a murder, there are many emotions involved, first for the Victims family and loved ones, then for the neighborhood or community that it has occurred in and then there is the out cry for Justice.

When we seek Justice we look into the eyes of our Public Servants: Police Officers and Prosecutors. And if the Prosecutor is up for re-election he must please the Public at all cost or he is not re-elected, because he is not doing his job. But what is his job? His job is to properly enforce the laws in the courts, when these laws have been violated, it is his duty to try and convict those who are in the fact "Guilty" and not to convict those who are a simple convenience to his Political Agenda.
He has taken a oath to seek out the truth and not be over zealous in doing so. However, with a nation and community crying out for Justice, Prosecutors and Police alike often take their power for granted and use it as opportunities for personal Political growth and in doing so, there are no limits or boundaries to what will be done to suffice their desire to be accepted and re-elected in the Political circle of society.
When a Violent Crime such as crime occurs it is first the Police, who must obtain a Suspect and if they place this suspect in the media spotlight, then they are in a no turn back situation, they cannot say "we have captured the Murderer" and then turn around and tell the Public "we got the wrong man" that is first an embarrassment for the Police and a greater fear for the Public, so what occurs?
The over zealous Police officer will first fabricate evidence, it will be hard to say who fabricated it with so many Officers handling the evidence and then there are Witnesses needed, so the Police Officer will of course find Witnesses who will cooperate, witnesses who need deals and they will show them evidence or give them testimony to go by and thus when they turn in their paperwork and investigation the deals are not final, it is up to the Prosecutor to make the deals available to the Witnesses and thus here comes the over zealous Prosecutor who has pending charges against a would be witness and the suddenly made witness agrees to fabricate testimony under oath in the court room against an innocent man.
Many think that such an act would result in Perjury, but many do not know that it is the Prosecutor himself that would have to charge the Witness with Perjury and surely the Prosecutor is not going to charge his very own Witness with such a crime, it would destroy his case and many Judges do not act upon perjured testimony, unless it is against a potential Defense witness.
Now that we have a Suspect, Evidence and witnesses, we must now create a format to present the case.

This is where the Prosecutors take advantage of past victims of crimes by the Suspect and the current victims family. When a Family and Community suffer a loss they are in great pain, especially when the loss is senseless there are great emotions and they are vulnerable to being mislead and misguided even manipulated and who better to manipulate them than the aspiring Politician, the Prosecutor.
What normally occurs is the Prosecutor will meet with the Family after Police Investigators have interviewed them, when the Prosecutor meets with them he will convince them of many things, facts and tell them he has specific evidence and they have their loved ones killer and they will do all they can to get him off the street, but he will need their help to do it, in doing this he will basically use their emotional state against them knowing that all they desire is for someone to pay for the murder of their loved one and they never look beyond what they are being told.
In addition to this, the family members never see all of the reports, statements or even the evidence at the crime seen, they are told what the Prosecutor wants them to hear and nothing more and this is a great injustice to the Victim, the Family and the falsely accused as well.
And then the Family is also led to see the suspect as a monster who has taken the very life of someone they have deeply loved, so when they are approached by the media, they reflect a great hatred or animosity against the accused and in doing so, the platform for convicting the innocent is set. And then there are past victims.
What is normally done with past victims is very simple, they are told that the person who committed a crime against them is in jail again and they will tell them why, they may even show photos of the victim and again, they will tell them that they need their help, not to falsely convict him, but to get him off the streets, so he cannot do what he did to them again. And in the past pain of the crime these victims agree to participate in an unknown injustice.

And next there is the participation of three other people, first you have the Judge who will preside over the trial, the Judge will try to save as much money as possible for the city by disregarding his duties and integrity as an interpreter of the very law he too has vowed to honor and uphold and in doing so the Judge will appoint inexperienced lawyers, normally friends within his golfing circle, past prosecutors or even lawyers who do not care about the truth or the rights of the accused.
And he will order them to represent the accused at the cheapest possible rate and in doing so, the lawyers will first try to get the accused to plead guilty to a crime he has not committed by trying to convince him that the best thing to do is plead guilty to the crime for a Life Sentence or even time lesser than that and if the accused continues to argue his innocence they will then do their best to convince him that if he goes to trial no matter what they do, he will receive the Death Penalty.
When we look at it over 90% of the men taken to trial by such Lawyers appointed by the court are not only improperly defended, they are found guilty and sentenced to death and when we look at the innocent men and women in our society who have been falsely accused, it was this same type of Lawyer who has represented them in the beginning and in such cases we all know the result.

It is not until a Lawyer with integrity and profession takes the case and does what should have been in the beginning starts to investigate the facts that innocent people are helped and properly defended. And often it is not until people who believe in true Justice come to the aid of the accused and donate the fund to do this investigation and help with representation fees that such injustices are uncovered, of course in some cases the accused is lucky to get an experienced lawyer who is human and respects human life and the very integrity of his profession who will pursue the truth and in doing so fight to insure that the accuses is afforded the Defense he should have received in the beginning.
But such lawyers are very rare and often under-paid, however greatly appreciated. Once the convicted innocent is in the appeals process he is constantly given inadequate lawyers to file his appeals making it simple for these false convictions to be upheld and again until the convicted receives experienced assistance he is only doomed for sure death.

The greatest injustice is to families of the Victim and the Convicted, because both become victims and it is due to something that is very unnecessary and that is a disregard for human life and a lack of integrity as a human being.
If the innocent person is executed and later found to be innocent, then he cannot be returned to his loved ones, he is only but a memory. And then there is the pain of the Victims Family, because again they face the truth of knowing that Justice was not enforced as promised and when a person is proved innocent after many years of being in jail, the over zealous Prosecutor and the very Police who have violated his Rights, continue to argue that he is in fact the murderer and that he is getting away with the crime.
This has even been the case when the actually killers have admitted to the murders, so who is truly the Criminal in such cases?
And even though the Murderer may not have been caught or even confesses later, who pays for the injustice against the innocent man who's life has been seen as a Pawn in the Political game of chess?
It is not the Prosecutor, because he is basically immune against acts of misconduct while in Office and it is not the Police, normally it is the same tax payers, victims and the very Victim's family that he vowed to enforce the laws for, they pay through suits and taxes, they have paid him to commit an act of injustice, they have paid him for additional pain and emotional stress and they have paid him for his lack of integrity.
It is not until society looks at the injustice and seeks punishments and sanctions against such acts by prosecutors and Judges that the very integrity of our legal system will be restored.
It is not until the Prosecutors are no longer immune against punishment for such acts that the Prosecutors will uphold the very oath they have taken in the name of the people, country and very Constitutions of the State and People they work for and the very constitution they vow to uphold.
It is a great injustice to the people who have voted him into Office, it is an Injustice to those who pay his Salary, it is an injustice to the innocently accused, it is an injustice to the victims family, but most of all it is a disgrace and Injustice to the Victims, he has used as Queens in his game of Political chess and in such a game everyone loses and the Politician moves on with his career. What about the families, the victims, but most of all the very Justice?
