Welcome to the Multia Information Center

Introduction

This page was written in order to give hints and help on running Linux on the Multia a.k.a UDB box, from Digital Corp.
There have been a lot of Multias for sale on the net since a little bit of time now, from various places such as Onsale, CPU Micromart, and Star Ship Corp. I got mine from Onsale for 59$. But with no hard disk and no memory.
What's interesting about this box is that you can have a low-end alpha box, to experiment with 64bit Unices without throwing too much money away. I think that if you carefully buy your components and build yourseld a complete nice little alpha box for less than 300$ !

Linux/Alpha installation procedure

There are several distributions available for Linux/Alpha. You can experiment with either one you want, even though my personal experience so far is limited to
RedHat. I have heard of a Debian distribution also. Another dist, but that seems in its early development process, is stampede linux.
