Gary Kenneth Peatling nous a encore donné cinq intéressantes notices biographiques de disciples anglais d'Auguste Comte : les animateurs de l'Eglise de Liverpool (Thomas Carson, Sydney Style, Otto Baier), le fondateur quelque peu excentrique de celle de Newcastle (Malcolm Quin), et enfin un grand éducateur et fondateur d'une éphèmère Eglise à Leicester (Frederick James Gould). Grâce à lui le positivisme religieux îles britanniques, si dynamique et d'une longévité relativement importante (le Temple de l'Humanité de Liverpool ne fermant ses portes qu'en 1947) nous est enfin un peu mieux connu.
Gary Kenneth Peatling has again contributed five very interesting biographical notices of English disciples of Comte : the leaders of the Liverpool Church ((Thomas Carson, Sydney Style, Otto Baier), the somewhat excentric founder of the Newcastle Church (Malcolm Quin), and last but not least a great educator and founder of a short-lived Church in Leicester (Frederick James Gould). Thanks to his efforts religious positivism in the British Isles, so dynamic and comparatively so durable (the temple of Humanity in Liverpool remaining active as late as 1947) is at last less of a mystery to us.
