Bingo is played every Friday at Warren Senior Community Center, 905 Fourth Ave. Doors open at 4 p.m. with early birds at 6 p.m. and regular bingo at 6:30 p.m. Play bingo in a smoke free environment and enjoy good food. This week each paid admission will receive a sloppy joe and potato salad.

What: The Case of the Missing Scarab: Visitors will search for a missing golden scarab during this full day of activities at Adventure Science Center that includes deciphering hieroglyphics, taking measurements in cubits, exploring how the Egyptians built the pyramids with levers, and examining ancient broken pottery on their quest for the missing beetle.

Art teacher burned in house fire
A longtime Sonora High School art and ceramics teacher was badly burned yesterday when a 20-gallon propane tank burst into flame and destroyed his Phoenix Lake-area home.

Eva Katherine Green, 92, of Cookeville, passed away July 4, 2006. Funeral services were conducted July 8 from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home, with Bro. Charlie Hutchinson and Bro. Jonathan Watson officiating. Burial was in Brotherton Cemetery.
